Start of spring break

We had a great first day of Spring break. It was in the upper 80s so we went for a walk, and ran little errands. It was just nice to know i did not HAVE to come home and grade. OK i should have but i didn't. Thank you Alba and Jim for the GREAT outfit!

Not a great picture but I wanted to show that Andra will do anything to get to the dogs. She pulled the blanket to her trying to get to Alley. She then rolled over to her back, and tried to roll to her. Yes, I have a hold of Alley's collar because if i didn't you would see Alley licking Andra.

Avocado and other food fun

Andra got to try avocado this week. At first she was not sure but then took to it. This week we will try cooked pureed sweet potato. I am going to try and "make" her food. Right now that means smash and add some water then mix. I am following the book "Super Baby Food". So far, so good and very easy.
Andrew is a whiz at feeding Andra. He makes noises and sings songs; she loves it. Andra is now a pro with rice cereal. For the most part she eats it without a mess. She sometimes likes to feel it with her hands but then she sucks on her fingers.

Earrings for Andra

I have very much been slacking on the blog posts. Andra, work, school, Andra, work and i am should clean the house at some point again. Well the big news here is that Andra got her ears pierced. She might have cried for 30secs at most and has not touch them since. I tried to get some pictures of them but sitting still is not high on the list of things Andra likes to do. Hope you enjoy this pics!

Bows...bows and more bows!!!!!

Andra wears bows, big bows, she has very little peach fuzz for hair. Her bows are head bands with bows attached. The other day we were at The Perk (a coffee shop) for Andrew’s coffee and a women said I was surprising her feminist side by putting a bow on her head. Con you believe that!! She is 5 ½ months old, she has no feminist side!!!!
She will wear a bow till she tells me, “Mom, no more bows!”

Andra has cereal for the first time

Today was the big day. Andra tried rice cereal mixed with breast milk tonight. She thought is was ok at best and only for a few bites. Then she just wanted to grab the spoon. I think it got too cold too fast.

Meeting the cousins

Andra got to meet her cousins from California this weekend. Heather, Andrew’s sister, Bryan, Charlotte and Mason came to Texas for a visit.

Andra is 5 months old

Happy Birthday Andra!

OK I have been slacking on the blog. I am teaching a new class at UTSA and it is taking what little time I had. Andra was 5 months last weekend. We went out to run some errands and looked at the computer and it said 52 so Andrew just grabbed a sweatshirt. It was not 52 it was colder. Here is Andrew keeping Andra warm.

We let Andra sit in her high chair for the first time on Monday. My mom was in town for a short visit so we could not have Andra on the table in her bouncy seat like we normally do for dinner. She is still a little small for it but it was nice to have her at the table with us instead of on the table. For those who did not know, the high chair was my dads. We had it refinished and now it is Andra’s. She like it

Andra LOVES her Dundee

If Dundee is in the room that is all Andra wants to look at. When we do let him get close, she squeals in delight. He is so good and just takes the love pats and hair pulling that he gets. Remember he is a R. Ridgeback so his hair standing up is always like that.

Andra's new toy

Last week we got Andra an exersaucer. Andrew was concerned she was not ready so we had been putting it off; but at her 4 month appointment the Dr said that it would be fine.
Andra Loves it! Thank you Mom for the outfit, too. Like most of Andra's outfits that are 3-6months the pants are a little too big and the hats are small on her 90% head.

4.5 visit

We went to the Dr on Wednesday for Andra’s 4 month visit. We were a little late because she was 4 months old on Christmas Eve. Anyway , she weighed 12.5 pounds (25%) was 23 ¾ inch tall (50%) and had a head circumference of 16 ¾ inches (90%). She can roll from her belly to her back and her back to her belly, loves her feet and is cutting another tooth. Yes I said another. She lifts that big noggin all the way up and has started to pull her legs under her to rock. I think the extra weeks inside my belly helped. She will also do anything to get to Dundee. He is good and lets her “pet” him and she just squeals in delight. Alley just wants to lick Andra so it is alittle harder to get some "pets" in.

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a Happy and Safe New Year! We we over to Tim's house for fun with family and friends. We tried to stay till midnight but Andra had different plans. She did not want to sleep in a strange place so we came home at 10:30ish. So I must say kids did not change us to much; we were in bed at midnight; same as last year :)

Here is Andrew getting a "short"story from Jim.

Here is Andra spending time with her Tata.

On Jan. 1st my uncle Amadeo Ortiz got sworn in as Sheriff for Bexar County. We went down to the courthouse for the big event and then out to lunch.
Here is Amanda and Andra before the big event.

Then we had to get a family picture with the new Sheriff.

What Santa brought

Here is Andra in her new swing. She is still a little small for it, hence the head cushion. For those not in Texas, it was 80 degrees out, that is why she is in short sleeves and capri pants in December.

83 in Deceber!

It was 80 something today so we got to wear a great outfit from Scotland. Andrew's aunt Helen sent this very cute knicker outfit so I had to share the picture.

Lost sock and cookies

Today we lost our first sock. I know there are more of this to come but it was the socks that matched one of my favorite outfits for Andra. So Costco or Home Depot got a purple sock with flowers on it :(

Once Andra went down for the night Andrew and I put Christmas music on and made sugar and peanut butter cookies. And no not from a tub, pull out the mixer, add buter, sugar, flour, nutmeg ect . Andrew even had to mix the PB before we put it in the mixer because it was natural PB and all the oil was on top. It was a lot of fun. Next year I can not wait for Andra to be able to help.

Pictures

We had some pictures taken yesterday and this was one of my favorites. Afterwards it was lunch with Katy and Garrett. Then walking around the mall for exercise. It was in the 40's outside, so too cold for Andra to be outside. Today it is in the 50's then by Sat back to 79 or 80! Fun winter in Texas.

Raking leaves

Today it was 80 degrees in San Antonio and an absolutely perfect day. We spent part of the day outside doing the yard. I must say Andrew did 90% of the work but with Andra in the baby bjorn I raked some leaves. Andra loved it. She would laugh and squeal in delight. It was so funny.

Five years ago I walked down the aisle and married a man in a skirt and I have never been happier!
Just don’t tell him I called it a skirt and not a kilt.

Dundee vs the window

I came home the other day to find broken glass at the front door. No, no one tried to brake in, Dundee broke out. Ok he did not leave the house but he did break the window “defending” his house from the evil FedEx guy. I am not sure if we will ever get a package from Fed Ex again. What was funny was that when I walked up Alley and Dundee were just sitting behind the broken glass wagging their tails. When I got inside I did find that Dundee had cut himself and there was blood in the front room and down the hallway. He then jumped on our bed and got his wound to stop bleeding. He is fine only limps if he thinks he can get a treat out of it.
